Bus Riders Petition City Council

Bus Riders Petition City Council for Functional Transportation
Video Testimony, Hundreds of Signers Cite Right to Service in City Charter

DETROIT – The North End Woodward Community Coalition (NEWCC) will turn in hundreds of petition signatures at the next meeting of the Detroit City Council, Tuesday, September 18 at Wayne County Community College, East Side campus 5901 Connor, 7 – 8:30p. Calling for a restoration of bus routes and general improvements, NEWCC will draw Council’s attention to the section of the Detroit City Charter that cites viable public transportation as a right. From broken fare boxes which rob the cash strapped system of needed revenue to the elimination of weekend routes, riders are demanding basic support for better service. In addition to the signatures, NEWCC will be directing Council to a You Tube channel with video testimony from bus riders and their supporters calling for better public transportation to work, school, worship and shopping.
